I hope you will find that the teaching resources and some of the numeracy
maths games I am about to share with you will give
you a step up on the ladder towards adding that little bit of extra content to
your maths lessons.
I am sure you have a set number of mental maths starters that you use within your lessons. This hub is to try and extend those games you play with some easy to use internet games which require no set up time, and will only need the children to get whiteboards and pens out, which you will already have in your classroom. I will also include some of my favourite games or activities that are easy to set up and requires little effort on your part.
I do concentrate alot on timetables as you have seen from the mental maths starters which are my favourites. However there are plenty of times where you need other types of starter. Here I either use the book fizz buzz as mentioned or I rely on the internet. There are so many wonderful maths games for grade 4 to help you there that you would be a fool to dismiss it.
You can make math more fun by visiting online fun math games for kids, rather then giving your kids a sheet full of addition math evils to completed. They can advance skills in dangerous opinion and spelling as well.
Join in a fun, competitive game of up to 4 players to take a penguin race, jumping from one iceberg to another by answering times table questions (up to 12 times table). You will get your statistics at the end of the race - time, % accuracy, rate (per minute) and any problems you missed.
Player 2: No matter what he does, he cannot subtract enough matches to make the pile's size be 25 (because he can only take 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 matches). So let's say he takes 3 matches, leaving 28 matches.
Arirang mass games were first performed in 2002 in Pyongyang's May Day Stadium and have been held every year since - between August and October and on one occasion in Spring. The show was on 4 times a week. Tourists from all over the World were welcomed to the DPRK during Mass Games.
The days of the abacus have long passed us by. Pencil and paper worksheets? Sure, that's still used, but with the wide availabilty of the internet and computers, there are now tons of great ways to learn math! Free and fun math games for your children or students to learn with are abound and this article will review several different free math game websites.
This is a brilliant game I picked up from a book of the same name. Have a look at it using the link below. I would recommend it. Fizz buzz is one of the better games you can use, but it has games you can use from reception all the way to year 6 and beyond.
Its "no-fail game strategy" makes this one a perfect tool for self-directed play. One of the best things about this game is, it has a headphone jack, so can be played in the car (not by the driver of course ;) ) without driving the rest of the passengers crazy! There are 5 games to master - and they can be played either solo, or with another player.
As mentioned previously, just because you understand certain aspects of elementary math doesn?t mean that you?re qualified to teach it. You may feel comfortable solving simple math problems, but when it comes to explaining the process to someone else ? especially a child ? it may be more difficult than you think. If you?ve been helping your child with math homework, but scores are not improving, then you may want to consider an elementary math tutor who is not only skilled in teaching the subject, but also working with young children.
In the song Five Green and Speckled Frogs the song follows a pattern repeating the same words except that the numbers decrease with each verse. Singing songs like this teaches the rudiments of functions. Ask the children to guess what the next number will be in the pattern after each verse.
